Nursing education is not only about acquiring knowledge, but also about being able to apply it across different clinical and educational contexts.
NursEscape was created to support this form of active learning. Through digital escape rooms, educational content is organized into coherent learning experiences in which scenario, information, problem solving, decisions and interaction are connected.
Digital escape rooms can be integrated into courses and learning activities, enabling instructors to organize assignments and learner groups and to follow progress and the outcomes of the learning process.
A complete learning environment
NursEscape provides the educational infrastructure around the interactive experience. The digital room remains the learning experience, while the platform supports organization, access and integration with the wider educational process.
For learners
Each learner can access only the activities assigned to them. They can begin a new attempt or, when supported, continue from where they stopped.
After completing the experience, learners can view available progress and result information. Where enabled by the assignment and where the relevant criteria are met, they may also receive a verifiable certificate of completion.
For instructors
Instructors can organize courses and groups, invite learners and create assignments linked to a digital escape room.
They can review available information such as attempts, completion, progress, scores and duration, as well as more detailed attempt-level data, and export available results for further educational review.
How NursEscape works
1. Organize the activity
Create your course or learner group, invite participants and select the digital escape room you want to use.
2. Give learners an active learning experience
Inside the digital escape room, learners can explore the scenario, find and combine information, work through challenges and make decisions.
3. Follow progress and results
As learners take part in activities, NursEscape records, depending on the design of each activity, information such as progress, completion, scores and attempt duration.
Through these data, instructors can follow learners' progress and participation, gaining an overall view of the activity and, where needed, the progress of each learner individually.
4. Bring the experience back into teaching
Results can become a starting point for feedback, discussion, review or further educational use within the course.
Complements the learning ecosystem
Not an LMS replacement
NursEscape is not intended to replace Moodle, eClass or another Learning Management System. Its focus is the delivery of stateful digital escape-room experiences, assignment-based access and the recording of the associated learning activity.
More than a conventional quiz format
Quizzes remain useful for many educational purposes. A digital escape room offers a different format: it can combine narrative, environment, clues, multimedia, sequencing and feedback within a single interactive experience.
Digital does not make physical escape rooms obsolete
Digital delivery can support remote access, repeatability, bilingual content, version control and consistent recording of activity. Physical escape rooms offer different strengths, including in-person interaction, shared physical presence and tactile experience.

An environment for education and research
NursEscape is designed so that, beyond its educational use, it can also support research in nursing education.
Depending on the design of each activity, the platform can record data reflecting different aspects of participation and learning progress, such as progress, completion, scores, attempt duration and selected interaction data.
This capability allows digital escape rooms to be used systematically within pilot studies, educational evaluations and research protocols. At the same time, each activity can be designed around specific research questions and learning objectives, connecting the learning experience with the data required for its evaluation.
In this way, NursEscape can serve not only as a learning environment, but also as infrastructure for studying and evaluating the use of digital escape rooms in nursing education, with the appropriate research-ethics and data-protection procedures in place.
